Youth Event Management Programme
Offer for young talented organisers
Do you want to know what it takes to organise a festival for thousands of singers? Do you want to pursue a career as a choral manager or event organiser? For the second time, the festival Europa Cantat is offering a training programme with workshops and presentations to smart and resourceful young organisers. You can test the gained lessons and experiences directly afterwards, working as part of the international festival staff. The application deadline is January 31st, 2012.
Description of the programme
2-week training course for young choral managers, including training on the job
• July 20th: arrival in Torino
• July 21st-22nd: lectures and workshops on the basics of international events: production of concerts, fundraising, making budgets, communication and promotion, etc.
• July 23rd-26th: training on the job for the final preparation and organisation of the Festival Europa Cantat Cantat XVIII Torino 2012, with a coach/mentor for the participants of the course
• July 27th - August 4th: Festival Europa Cantat XVIII Torino 2012
The participants of the course will work in one of a number of possible departments of this international festival, taking responsibilities in the field of music planning, concert organisation, information services, communication, production, etc.
• August 5th: evaluation meeting, exchange of information and experience, final coaching, information on opportunities for follow-up training
• August 6th: departures
Target group
Young people with interest and ambition in international choral event management, coming from Europe and from all over the world.
Age group: 18-30
Accommodation and meals
The participation in this course will be a scholarship, the festival will pay for food and accommodation in shared rooms during the complete training course – further information will be provided after the selection of participants.
Travel expenses
Participants have to pay their travel costs to and from Torino.
Language
Working language in the lectures, workshop and on the job is English.
Knowledge of Italian language is helpful, but not necessary.

This is a project collaboration between: the Festival Europa Cantat XVIII Torino 2012, Feniarco, the European Choral Association - Europa Cantat, ECA-EC Youth Committee, Feniarco Youth Committee and the International Federation for Choral Music (IFCM).
Application procedure
The deadline for application is January 31st 2012.
Applications must be written in English (as this is the working language during the training and during the festival)

• Written Motivation Letter (Why are you interested in the Young Event Management Programme? Why are you motivated to work in cultural event management? What do you expect from the program? What are the topics you are most interested in? What are the skills you want to work on?)

Candidates will be selected based on competences, skills and motivation. We will attempt to create a diverse group, with people from different countries and backgrounds.
Final decision on the applications will be communicated at the end of March to all who have applied.
