The Medieval district born in Parco Valentino in 1884 as ancient art section during the Esposizione Generale Italiana di Torino. It reproduces a XV century feudal quarter. Buildings, decorations and furniture are faithfully reproduced following Medieval architectures.
Within the crenellated walls, beyond the lift bridge, the Borgo’s buildings makes wonderful your walking. The Stronghold, elevated compared to the Borgo, is the district focal point. The ancient homes attest the XV century lifestyle with furniture, fabrics, armours and rooms entirely faithful: dinner room, throne room, bedrooms and chapel.
The delight garden is cultivated with perfumed herbs.
When they projected this Borgo they thought about didactic and educational aims, to protect the historical and artistic patrimony as the rapid industrial changes undermined traditional costumes.
On the riverside way, artisanal shops are still open since1884: you can find blacksmith workshop, printing offices and gift shops.
