Cuneo - Chiesa di San Francesco Cuneo - Chiesa di San Francesco Piazza Virginio

Cuneo is located on a promontory wedge – shaped, namely "a cuneo", in a strategic location on the confluence of two rivers. Together with Alba, Cuneo was one of the main provinces in Piemonte, until the Savoy annexation in the mid-fourteenth century. The foreign domination of Cuneo ended with the conclusion of the Napoleonic domination, and its hills have allowed the establishment of the Anti-Fascist Resistance. Entering the old town you can walk along the perimeter of the city under the medieval and later nineteenth-century arcades. There are many buildings of considerable historical relevance, such as the Palazzo house of the Galimberti or the villa Tornaforte. Among the religious buildings, the complex of San Francesco is the most monumental one, the site of the Franciscan friars Order, a priceless testimony of fine art and architecture, that has been crossing different centuries. In addition to the relaxing cloister overlooking a beautiful garden, the complex is also a public museum.
