The “Estudio Coral Meridies” was formed in 2004 by Virginia Bono as an independent amateur artistic ensemble. Since its creation, Meridies (Latin for “South”) has set as its goals the intensive study of not just the vast choral repertoire but rather especially focusing on performing and even premiering choral works by contemporary Argentinean and South American composers. Meridies has received recognition from both the public and from specialists for its rich sound, musicality and exquisite interpretations.
The Estudio Coral Meridies has won prices in various competitions in Argentina: Trelew Competition (2007), “Aamcant” Competition of folk- and popular music, “Venado Coral” (both 2008) and “Ansilta”( 2010). Meridies has participated as the only Latin American choir at various prestigious International competitions and festivals: at the 11th International Chamber Choir Competition “Marktoberdorf” (Germany, 2009), “Polyfollia” (France, 2010) and "La Fabbrica del Canto" (Italy, 2011). In 2011, at the IX edition of the World Symposium of Choral Music in Puerto Madryn, Argentina, Meridies not only gave several outstanding concerts but also performed as a selected demonstration choir for the Choral conducting master class.
Among its up and coming projects are a confirmed participation at the Missoula International choral festival and the International Choral Festival Idaho (USA 2013).
