The atelier is based on traditional songs for folk dances in the regions of Southern Italy. From the pizzica of Salento to the dance on the drum of the Vesuvius and Campania area, from the tarantella of Calabria to tarantella of Sicily, of Gargano and Puglia.
A glimpse at the context from which 'The Spiritual' was birthed, the fundamental differences, the nuances, and variety of interpretive applications.
The key element is improvisation: free improvisation, improvisation on different themes, and, not least, improvised arrangements.
