G41 Mediterranean Folk: Dancing Songs from South Italy

The atelier is based on traditional songs for folk dances in the regions of Southern Italy. From the pizzica of Salento to the dance on the drum of the Vesuvius and Campania area, from the tarantella of Calabria to tarantella of Sicily, of Gargano and Puglia.

Participants will be given the opportunity to be accompanied by the simplest traditional percussions (scetavajasse, putipù / friction drums, castanets / idiophones, triccaballacche), and possibly the chance to get to the basic and styles techniques of the traditional Italian tamburi a cornice, including the tambourine typical of Salento and Calabria, the Neapolitan tammorra.

The atelier is planned with live accompaniment of swing and classical guitar and mandolin, frame drums, tambourines and tammorre,
melodeon and accordino,

and is organized by the Artistic Company La Paranza del Geco in Torino:

Simone Campa artistic director, composer, percussionist and researcher

Elisa Di Dio singer, classically trained percussionist, singing and music teacher
