The Altbachische Archiv is a collection of motets and cantatas of older members of the Bach family, between 1650 und 1700.
The collection was started by Johann A. Bach, father of Johann Sebastian, who took over the archive after his fathers´ death. After Johann Sebastian died, Carl Philipp Emanuel took the scores and completed them to the list of works that it is now. C.P.E. always mentioned the archive as a big family treasure!
The originals were lost during the second world war, but all original scores were found again in the National archive in Kiev, Ukrain in 2000.
