Ana Maria Raga

Venezuelan musician. Professor of Choral Conducting at the University of the Arts (Caracas, Venezuela). Founder Conductor of Aequalis, (girls choir) and Aequalis Aurea, (women choir). Associate Conductor of Schola Cantorum de Venezuela, (mixed choir). Founder conductor of Schola Juvenil de Venezuela, (youth choir). Conductor of Coral Colegio Humboldt (children choir). She is frequently invited to conduct and lead workshops around the world, having participated in America Cantat III y V, Europa Cantat Junior IV, The Busan Choral Festival and Competition and in other contries from Europe and America. Raga conducted the World Youth Choir on summer 2009, performing “Una forma más” and her composition “Entre Pemones y Waraos”, an ethnic atmosphere from the south of Venezuela, published by Hinshaw Music and A Coeur Joie, respectively. She also has written compositions and arrangements for children choirs. She is Founder President of Aequalis Foundation a non-profit organization that was set up in 2001. It is dedicated to the presentation and investigation of music with a particular focus on choral music for equal voices. Since inception it has promoted the development of children and youth choirs. The Aequalis Foundation also promotes choral singing as a tool for human development in general: It attends school-age children and youth choirs, and serves elderly people through musical exercises to favor brain activity.
