Graduated from the F. Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, Hungary, in 1973 with degrees in music education, choral conducting and piano. Her teachers were E. Szőnyi, Z. Vásárhely and I. Párkai. At the same time, she graduated at the teaching faculty as well. Since then, her career has been characterized by both teaching and choir conducting. She has also been active teaching abroad: in 1976 she was a visiting faculty member for an academic year at the Kodály Musical Training Institute in Wellesley, Massachusetts, USA; in addition she also taught sol-fa at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. In 1988 she was a visiting faculty member in the Holy Names College Kodály Program. Gabriella has taught and conducted workshops both in Hungary and abroad (Europe, America and Australia). In 1991 and 1995 she was invited by the National Children’s Choir to attend the Kodály Teacher’s Conference in San Francisco and Columbus.
She has been a jury member at international competitions. From 1975 to 1994, she taught at the teachers’ training faculty of the F. Liszt Academy and since 1992 she taught choir conducting. Since 1985 she has been conducting the Hungarian Radio Children’s Choir and in 1995 she was appointed its resident conductor. In 2004 she received the Liszt Award and in 2005 the Bartók-Pásztory Award. In 2005 she was invited to Europa Cantat Junior 4 in Vic, Spain, as atelier conductor.
