Lorenzo Donati (IT)

Composer, conductor and violinist, he has studied in Florence and Arezzo, attending courses and studying with the most important Italian and international musicians. He carries out a lot of concerts with the vocal ensemble Vox Cordis of Arezzo, the vocal ensemble Hesperimenta of Arezzo and the Consort Vocalia of Rome with whom he won several prizes in national and international contests: Arezzo (1996 and 1999), Gorizia(1999 and 2002), Rome (1999), Avellino (2003), Vittorio Veneto (2007). During the year 2007 he has won two first prizes at the international contest for choir directors Mariele Ventre of Bologna. His compositions have been performed in different European countries and recorded by ensembles and soloists.
Some of his choral works have been commissioned and/or performed by the National Academy’s Choir S.Cecilia of Rome, the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino’s Choir, the Young Italian Choir, the Joyfull Company of London and the St. Jacob’s Chamber Choir of Stockholm.
He publishes for Pizzicato, Carus and other publishing houses.
He works with several national cultural institutions such as the Associazione Cori della Toscana, the Centre of musical studies F. Busoni of Empoli, Feniarco, International polyphonic meeting-City of Fano, Guido d’Arezzo Foundation. He helds courses of choral music and composition in Italy and abroad for important schools of direction (Milano Choral Academy, Guido d’Arezzo Foundation) and he’s frequently invited to join in international contests as a member of the jury. He’s a professor of choral music and choir direction at the Conservatory F.A. Bonporti of Trento.
