Benoît Giaux (BE)

After completing a music degree specializing in piano performing and teaching at the Namur Music College IMEP (Institut Supérieur de Musique et de Pédagogie Musicale), he studied voice with G. De Reyghere at the Liege Royal Conservatory of Music. Following graduation in 1995, he specialized in oratorio and concert singing, and earned a further diploma in 1998. He also studied choir conducting with P. Cao at the International School for Choral Conducting in Namur.
He began conducting La Choraline in 1987 and La Monnaie Royal Opera House Youth Choir in 1998. He was one of the conductors of the Robert Schuman Inter-regional Youth Choir, and guest conductor of festivals such as Europa Cantat Junior, Les Choralies, Les Cantilies, Asia Pacific Cantat.
Benoît has performed with various ensembles including the Namur Chamber Choir, the World Youth Choir, the Kammerchor Stuttgart, the Collegium Vocale, the Ensemble Vocal de Bourgogne, with which he has taken part in more than twenty recordings and many international tours. He has also been a member of the pop a cappella group Witloof Bay since its creation in 2004. As a soloist, he sings in Europe with conductors such as J. Tubery, P. Pierlot, G. Van Waas, P. Cao, P. Dombrecht, F. Heyerick, P. Cohen Akénine. He now dedicates his musical life to teaching voice at IMEP, performing as a soloist, conducting La Choraline, La Monnaie Royal Opera House Youth Choir and composing and performing with Witloof Bay.
