Lorenzo Fratini (IT)

He graduated in composition, polyphonic vocal composition, choral music and choir conducting, band instrumentation as well as having done studies in singing and orchestra conducting, guided by G. Kuhn, G. Gelmetti, P. Bellugi and of choir direction with R. Gabbiani, F. Lombardo, A.L. King and D. Fasolis.
He directed the Regional Tuscan Orchestra, the Florence Symphonietta, the Bucarest Radio Orchestra, the orchestra of the Cluj-Napoca Theatre (Romany), the orchestra of the Olympic Theatre of Vicenza, the orchestra of the G. Verdi Theatre of Trieste. During the year 2003 he’s guided an atelier on opera choirs at the festival Europa Cantat of Barcelona. He taught at the Conservatory G. Tartini of Trieste and at the University of Siena. After a short period at the theatre C. Felice of Genova, from 2004 to 2010 he has been choir director at the Foundation Lyric theatre G. Verdi of Trieste. He was frequently invited to join as director in the choir of the National Academy of S.Cecilia of Rome and he has cooperated with directors like D. Oren, L. Maazel, C. Eschenbach, W. Marshal, N. Santi, P. Steinberg. He performed for the very first time works made by F. Vacchi, G. Coral, R. Meyers, T. Dun and A. Pärt.
He has recently directed Il paese dei campanelli in Trieste, a opera choirs concert of italian authors at the presence of President of the Italian Republic, in addition to Madama Butterfly and Andrea Chenier at the Sejong Art Centre of Seoul. From Jenuary 2011 he is the director of the Teatro Comunale Choir of Bologna.
